New Government Ministers Gather at ANO HQ

Prague, Dec 4 (CTK) – All members of the future Czech government to be headed by Andrej Babis (ANO) met in the ANO headquarters in the morning where they are discussing the priorities of the government, ANO spokeswoman Lucie Kubovicova told journalists today.

President Milos Zeman is supposed to name the new government next Wednesday.

On Sunday, Babis confirmed the last name in his 15-member minority government. Robert Plaga (ANO), deputy education minister for universities, will be the education minister in it.

The cabinet will include nine newcomers, while the current ministers for ANO, Richard Brabec, Dan Tok, Robert Pelikan, Martin Stropnicky and Karla Slechtova, will continue in it.

ANO spokesman Vladimir Vorechovsky told journalists that the ministers had met for the first time in their full line-up today.

The meeting is to have a coordinating character and the ministers are to define their priorities there, Vorechovsky said.

On Tuesday, Zeman will accept the resignation of the coalition government of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD), composed of the CSSD, ANO and Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL). A day later, he will appoint Babis to the post of prime minister.

In the second half of the week, Zeman is to meet the individual candidates for ministers, proposed by Babis.

Babis wants to ask the Chamber of Deputies for confidence in his government in January.
