President Zeman and SPD Agree – Embassy Should Move to Jerusalem

Prague, Dec 9 (CTK) – Jerusalem is Israel’s indivisible capital and the Czech government should move the Czech embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the delegates to the national conference of the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) said in their resolution passed today.

The resolution reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump having decided on the relocation of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem earlier this week.

The decision has provoked both positive and negative reactions.

It was welcomed by Czech President Milos Zeman, who thanked SPD leader Tomio Okamura for his party’s position today.

However, the decision has sparked off protests in the Muslim world.

Czech Prime Minister-designate Andrej Babis (ANO) has said he disagreed with the relocation.

Babis has identified with the position of the EU which has adopted a reserved stance on Trump’s proposal.
