Putin-Trump Meeting Success: Zeman

MILOS ZEMAN VLADIMIR PUTIN

Prague, July 18 (CTK) – Czech President Milos Zeman assesses the recent meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin positively and he hopes that their cooperation will continue, Zeman said in an interview with CTK today.

Trump and Putin met in Helsinki on Monday. They touched upon many issues, including, for instance, the allegations about the Russian influence on the U.S. presidential election. They called their meeting successful.

However, some commentators consider Putin “the winner.”

After a joint press conference, Trump was criticised for siding with Moscow against his owns intelligence in the issue of the Russian interference in the U.S. elections. Trump was criticised by both Democrats and Republicans. Subsequently, he called his words a slip of the tongue.

“You know some political commentators, I will not name them, are choking with anger because the meeting fared well,” Zeman said.

Commentators are living of conflicts, enjoying them and they are unhappy if talks may help improve U.S.-Russian relations, he said.

He added that he hoped that the cooperation between Trump and Putin would continue.
