Zeman Refuses To Appoint Poche (CSSD) Foreign Minister

Zeman Poche

Prague, Aug 29 (CTK) – President Milos Zeman again refused to appoint Social Democrat (CSSD) MEP Miroslav Poche as foreign minister at his meeting with the Social Democrat leader, Interior Minister Jan Hamacek, today, Zeman’s spokesman Jiri Ovacek has told journalists.

Hamacek himself now works as acting foreign minister.

Zeman is against Poche due to what he called his positive attitude to migration and corruption allegations.

Some critics say Zeman rejects Poche because he supported his rival in the presidential election, Jiri Drahos.

The Social Democrats insist on Poche’s nomination.

“The (CSSD) board has made the decision and I have no reason to propose any changes,” Hamacek said.

He said he would like to resolve the affair as soon as possible.

The Social Democrat board will deal with the filling of the post of foreign ministers on Friday afternoon.
