In the analysis, financial donations and non-monetary payments recorded on the candidates’ websites were verified. Total provided in the period January 14th to -24th to the two candidates from 51 legal entities.
In the case of Milos Zeman, 72% of the financial volume was provided from sources that are completely anonymous. These are donations from the Citizens’ Rights Party and Friends of Milos Zeman. In both cases, the origin of funds provided by these non-monetary donors has not been clarified.
Jiří Drahoš received 51% of financial donations and non-cash payments from 38 companies with a transparent ownership structure. 46.5% of the financial volume was provided by 4 companies with an anonymous controlling entity and the rest were from companies with unclear or foreign ownership structure.
In conclusion, in the case of Milos Zeman, it was not possible to evaluate any of the donations as transparent, with Jiri Drahos donating 79% of companies with a certain controlling person.
In the final assessment there are four categories of donor ownership structures.
• Sure – it is a company that has a transparent and fully traceable ownership structure.
• Uncertain – information from publicly available sources (register of justice.cz) did not provide sufficient assurance about the actual controlling individual.
• Foreign
• Anonymous – Information from publicly available sources (register of justice.cz) does not provide any specific information about the actual controlling person.
