Avast Poised To Join FTSE 100 Amid Quarterly Reshuffle

Analysts expect antivirus software maker Avast to join the FTSE 100 index on the London Stock Exchange. Carnival and easyJet are among the companies set to depart the FTSE 100. FTSE Russell will announce the quarterly reshuffle of the composition of the index today.

Avast was fAvast was founded in 1988 by Czech researchers Eduard Kučera and Pavel Baudiš. The company is a pioneer in the field of computer security. In 2016, Avast bought the competing Czech antivirus company AVG. The company is the second-largest antivirus company in the world after Symantec in sales and, it boasts over 435 million global users.

Avast entered the London Stock Exchange LSE in May 2018. It was one of the largest tech IPO’s on the London Stock Exchange ever. The offer price valued the entire company at about £2.4 billion. The company’s shares also trade on the Prague Stock Exchange.
