Czech Auto Production Plummets In April

Auto production in the Czech Republic fell 31.1 percent year-on-year to 337,497 cars from January to April, the Automotive Industry Association said.

Production dropped 88.5 percent in April to 14,589 vehicles due to coronavirus restrictions.

Škoda Auto produced 218,374 cars, down 29.6 percent year-on-year, Hyundai in Nošovice reduced production by 35.3 percent to 65,890 vehicles, and Toyota, Peugeot and Citroën (TPCA) produced 53,233 cars, down 31.5 percent.

Production of Iveco buses stopped during April, resulting in a year-on-year decrease of 19 percent to 1,179 vehicles from January to April. SOR Libchavy increased output by 44 percent year-on-year to 144 buses. Production at JAWA Moto was down 82 percent to 135 machines.

Sales of new passenger cars fell by a record 76.3 percent year-on-year to 270,682 in the European Union, the European Auto Manufacturers’ Association said.
