The newly elected Chamber of Deputies will begin holding its constituent session on Monday afternoon, 30 days after general elections in which the winning ANO party took just under 30 percent of the vote. The programme of the first session stems from the Constitution and cannot be amended by MPs.
Negotiations to date suggest that Radek Vondráček of ANO will become be elected to the important speaker’s chair. Deputy speakers’ positions will also go to a vote.
Some 120 deputies will be making their oaths in the 200-seat lower house for the first time.
