Prague, (CTK) – The Freedom and Direct Democracy movement (SPD) has called on its members and proponents to take part in the presidential election upcoming on January 12-13 and recommended them to vote for the incumbent Czech President Milos Zeman.

SPD chairman Tomio Okamura announced already on Wednesday that he personally would vote for Zeman, as his attitudes were the closest to the SPD policy.

“We have to vote for a candidate who defends the interests of Czech citizens the most, who supports direct democracy, rejects illegal migration, maintains an irreconcilable stance against the threat of Islamic terrorism, one whose foreign policy opinions match the SPD policy the best,” the SPD said in its appeal.

Okamura said on Wednesday Zeman was the only candidate with a real chance to succeed in the election who maintained views close to the SPD. A convergence of Zeman with Okamura was debated in the past. Last year, the president attended the SPD congress, the only party’s congress he did visit in the same year.
