Hidroelectrica To Bid For CEZ Assets

Romania’s state-owned energy company Hidroelectrica said it is interested in bidding on all of the Romanian assets of CEZ and Enel.

Hidroelectrica’s announcement comes shortly after CEZ set a deadline of 25 September for bidders to express their interest in their Romanian holdings on 9 September.

The companies head, Bogdan Badea told reporters the bid process has been hampered by the “lack of an energy minister.” The procedures involving a state-owned entity is government-mandated in Romania.

Romania has not had an energy minister since 26 August, when the ruling Social Democrats lost the majority in parliament after a junior ally resigned from the government over a policy dispute.
