Jungheinrich To Open Manufacturing Plant In Czech Republic

The German company Jungheinrich will build a factory for the production of forklift trucks in Chomutov. About 350 people will find work in it. Construction will begin next year. Production is expected to start in 2023. The project budget is approximately 60 million euros, which is approximately 1.5 billion crowns. Martin Koudelka from the company’s marketing department informed CTK about this today.

The plant will have an area of approximately 37,000 square meters. The so-called reach trucks, ie forklifts, will be manufactured here. The construction of the new complex will be carried out together with the developer. According to Koudelka, the reason for choosing the Chomutov plant is its location in the heart of Europe and the resulting excellent logistical connection. Chomutov is located on the D7 motorway, which connects Prague, Chomutov and the state border with Germany.

The current production of reach trucks at the Jungheinrich plant in Norderstedt will be gradually moved to a new plant in Chomutov, starting in 2023. “The demand for Jungheinrich trucks is constantly growing, so we have to increase our production capacity. This will help us grow sustainably and profitably and increase the company’s long-term competitiveness, “said Sabine Neuss, a member of the company’s board of directors. According to the company, the available capacities in Norderstedt will then be used for further growth.

Jungheinrich, founded in 1953, offers handling technology, logistics systems and services. The Hamburg-based group is represented through its own direct sales offices in 40 countries and partner companies in approximately 80 other countries. Jungheinrich employs more than 18,000 people worldwide and in 2020 the group reported a turnover of 3.81 billion euros, ie almost 97 billion crowns.
