Rocky Start of Week for Prague Bourse Down 0.6%

Prague, Feb 5 (CTK) – The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) fell today, following European markets, and its PX index lost 0.6 percent to 1,122.3 points, with Stock Spirits liquor maker and VIG insurer dropping over 1 percent each, according to the bourse website.

 

VIG with a 1.47 percent loss to Kc702 did the worst. Komercni banka shed 0.86 percent to Kc925 and Moneta Money Bank 0.35 percent to Kc84.70.

 

Erste Bank stagnated at Kc1,009 when HSBC bank raised its target price from EUR38 to EUR43.

 

“European banking stocks were posting losses, the STOXX 600 Banks Europe index was 0.8 percent lower the last time on the background of a wider sell-off on the global stock markets,” said Patria Finance analyst Jana Knechtlova.

 

CEZ power company closed 0.95 percent weaker at Kc523 and Stock Spirits surrendered 1.4 percent to Kc84.30. Philip Morris CR cigarette maker was down 0.59 percent at Kc16,780.

 

On the other hand, Pegas Nonwovens textile producer grew by 0.7 percent to Kc868 and was thus the biggest gainer. Unipetrol petrochemical group added 0.13 percent to Kc376.50.
