Seznam Sales Rise 11% in 2017

Prague, June 13 (CTK) – Seznam.cz, number one online company on the Czech market, raised sales by 11 percent to a record-breaking Kc4.12bn last year, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) growing by 17 percent to Kc1.89bn, the company said.

“Our results this year will be at least the same as last year, however, we have bigger ambitions,” Pavel Zima, the company’s board deputy chairman, told journalists today.

Content and news services were doing well last year, and so was programmatic advertising, that is ads sold and posted via Sklik and RTB (real-time bidding) services that make more than a half of Seznam.cz’s advertising volumes.

Some advertising income was generated from feed on the company’s homepage which offers links to news content of partner publishers. It is the most visited page on Czech Internet

This year, the company wants to launch a video portal.

It has recently bought a 67 percent stake in regional radio stations Expres FM and Classic Praha which it plans to transform into nationwide stations using Internet or digitisation, Zima said.

Seznam.cz also acquired a motorist web, Garaz.cz, planning to raise its visitor numbers to more than 200,000 within a year and to make it the largest motorist website on the Czech market, the company said.

Seznam.cz is owned by its founder Ivo Lukacovic.

Its servers register around 7.8 million real users.
