Slovak PM Fico: €1 Million Reward To Find Reporter Jan Kuciak’s Killer

Bratislava, Feb 26 (CTK) – The Slovak government has offered a million euros as a reward for information to help catch the murderer of young investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his girlfriend, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-Social Democracy) told the media today.

According to the police, Kuciak’s work as a journalist enquiring into suspicious tax-related cases was the most probable motive of his murder.

“We will accept even anonymous reports. Anything that may help catch the perpetrator or perpetrators of the wilful murder will be very valuable,” Fico said.

He said the case will be investigated by a team comprised of representatives of the prosecutor’s office, the Interior Ministry, police and the SIS secret service.

Kuciak, 27, working for the Aktuality.sk online news portal, and his girlfriend were murdered in Slovakia this weekend.

The victims were shot dead by a single shot each. The double murder was committed between Thursday and Sunday when the bodies were found, he added.

This has been the first known murder of a journalist in Slovakia.
