UNIQA Pojistovna’s Revenues Jump To Kc1.7 Billion In Q1

Prague, May 28 (CTK) – UNIQA pojistovna, ranking among the eight largest insurers on the Czech market, collected Kc1.7bn in premiums in the Jan-March period, 4.7 percent more in annual terms, the insurer’s spokeswoman Eva Svobodova told CTK today.

 

Insurers’ billed premiums totalled Kc34bn this year, displaying an annual hike of 4.3 percent.

 

Non-life insurance made up more than 83 percent of the total figure, while the life insurance segment sank by less than 1 percent. The former’s market share was 6.3 percent and the latter’s 2.4 percent.

 

Non-life insurance premiums were 5.9 percent higher. Vehicle accident insurance went up by 12 percent and third-party insurance saw a rise of 19 percent, with both groups profiting from big sales of new and used cars in the long run.

 

Home and household insurance grew faster in annual terms, by 15 percent. Travel insurance reported a 22 percent increase.

 

UNIQA pojistovna had 873,000 insurance policies at the end of March, 9.3 percent more than last year, with third-party insurance deals adding 17 percent year on year.

 

UNIQA pojistovna is majority owned by Austria’s largest insurance group UNIQA. The Czech branch emerged in 1993 as Cesko-rakouska pojistovna (Czech-Austrian insurer). It was rebranded as UNIQA pojistovna in mid-2001.
