Berlin, Sept 14 (CTK correspondent) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will receive Czech President Milos Zeman in a week, Berlin announced today, and Zeman will also meet his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Friday, September 21.
Zeman will pay a three-day official visit to Germany next week.
He will arrive in Berlin on Wednesday afternoon, September 19, while the main political programme is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, Zeman will also visit nearby Potsdam to meet Minister President of Brandenburg Dietmar Woidtke.
According to CTK sources, Zeman is also to see Cecilienhof Chateau in Potsdam where the Potsdam Conference took place in the summer of 1945 after the war.
In Berlin, Zeman is to meet representatives of German firms investing in the Czech Republic on Thursday afternoon.
On Friday before noon, Zeman will meet Steinmeier who will welcome him with military honours.
Both presidents are to discuss primarily border cooperation and bilateral economic relations during a joint lunch. They will also touch upon both countries’ domestic politics, the EU reform and European budget as well as the EU elections, migration and relations with Russia.
Merkel is to receive Zeman in the seat of the German Chancellery around 15:30 on Friday. Both politicians are supposed to debate migration, energy industry, bilateral economic cooperation, the political situation in both countries as well as Russia and the EU.
No press conferences are scheduled either after a meeting with Steinmeier or talks with Merkel. Zeman will meet the media only after both meetings.
