The Agrofert Group will shutdown the Penam United Bakeries subsidiary Delta bakery in Brno in September. The company announced plans to make up to 160 staff redundant, and sell off the assets. United Bakeries bought the company last year.
United Bakeries plans to lay off up to 160 people but will put some staff to work in another plant. “Employees are, of course, entitled to legal severance pay. We will have individual interviews with all of us. We will offer them the opportunity to work in the new bakery in Rosice or at another Agrofert Group company. Or we will help them find employment in other companies in the region,” a spokesman said.
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš owns the Agrofert group, which has over 200 companies. Agroferts holdings include chemical, agricultural and food companies, and media outlets.
