MOH Paid CZK 1.2B To Shell Company For Face Masks

Opposition parties are calling on Health Minister Adam Vojtech to explain how multiple contracts for medical supplies were awarded to shell companies with little or no revenue.

La Factory won a CZK 1.2 billion contract for face masks from the Ministry of Health (MOH). Despite being inactive, with no sales, no employees, and assets of only CZK 99,000.

Pirates’ chairman Ivan Bartos called on Vojtech to explain the purchases of protective equipment and exactly how the ministry vetted the suppliers.

KDU-CSL deputy chairman Tomas Zdechovsky called on the police to investigate the purchase from La Factory. Adding that Vojtěch should resign if he’s found to have abused the state of emergency when awarding the contract.

The ministry also bought respirators from Recea Prague for CZK 300 million. Recea has reported annual sales of CZK 116,000, and its owner has negative equity.
