Skoda Auto Extends Production Shutdown Again

Škoda Auto has extended its production shut down for the second time in all three of its Czech plants due to coronavirus, until 20 April. Initially, production was scheduled to resume on 6 April. The company notified employees via an SMS message.

The company announced the first extension of the outage on 27 March, and the disruption was to be extended from 6 April to 14 April. “After an agreement with VW and KOVO trade unions, the shutdown of production at Czech Škoda Auto plants is extended until 6:00 am on 20 April 2020,” the company said in an SMS message.

Employees received 70 percent of salary from 18 March to 29 March, after which the amount increased to 75 percent. This agreement is still in place, so employees will continue to receive 75 percent of their salary after 6 April, when production was initially scheduled to resume.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Škoda Auto ceased production at all three of its Czech plants on Wednesday, 18 March.
