OKD Hacked: Halts Mining Operations

Hackers attacked OKD’s corporate network Sunday, taking down all of their servers.

The entire network is compromised, and all systems are inoperable, according to a company spokesperson.

For safety reasons, OKD stopped all mining activity in its Karvina mines.

The company is working with computer experts and NÚKIB to restore their systems.

The OKD mining company is the only black coal producer in the Czech Republic. OKD mines coal at Karviná in the ČSA, Darkov, ČSM-Sever and ČSM-Jih mines.

The company is state owned by Prisko since 2018.

Approximately 8,500 people work in the Karviná mines.
